Liberal Democrats leader Nick Clegg

NICK Clegg has claimed Britons have a greater “cross to bear” than the Germans do over their Nazi past, it emerged last night.
Lib Dem leader, Nick Clegg, said we suffered from “delusions of grandeur” and a “misplaced sense of superiority” for having defeated Germany in the Second World War.
In an article written when he was an MEP in 2002, he said this had become “a more insidious cross to bear” than Germany’s guilt.
His comments angered those associated with Britain’s defence. Tory MP Nicholas Soames, grandson of wartime leader Sir Winston Churchill, said: “Any person who takes this view about Britain’s role in the Second World War is unfit to lead a national party, let alone the country.”
Colonel Tim Collins, commander of the Royal Irish Regiment during the Iraq War, said: “They (Lib Dems) are ashamed of British identity and pandering to those who don’t share it.”
