The only time MMs will manipulate the price of a stock is when they have a large quantity to unload...which is when they are working in tandem with the company to offload a bunch of shares (aka-dilution).
Believe me, MMs are not in the game of risk. They make their money off of two things:
1. The spread between the bid and ask 2. The deal they make with the company when they help them sell shares (dilute). They have to make some type of deal as they will be sitting on a bunch of shares to get rid of.
It's REALLY that simple.
If people think that MMs are spending their time watching pink sheet stocks and making investments in them, you really should take a closer look.
