sarai....

Shocking to hear that TSM is having customer pushout problems and looking for a slowdown<g>. When digesting this news, remember that the fourth quarter is traditionally the strongest quarter for chip and equipment companies, so when you get slowing in the fourth quarter it is double trouble.

I keep reading articles about how inventories are at the lowest point in many years, but that does not hold true in most tech markets where inventories have been on the rise once again. The consumer is slowing down, and back to school is shaping up to be a serious disappointment. I would be very surprised if Holiday shopping is not relatively anemic also.

The economy continues to slow down, in my opinion, and will not be turning up anytime soon.

'sarai' -- and currently the nas follows the sox. Seems strange and may not continue when people figure out there are other profitable sectors. Then again,,,,,,, maybe world economys are based on 'puters and not on producing additional items that actually have real margins & earnings?? Although I plead 'guilty' of continually upgrading the questions must be asked "Why does the AVG user require a P-4 2 gig processor to send email or look at various sites?" , " How benificial is a P-4 on a 56K modem connection?" , Now we ask the same questions to the avg business and IMO the answer is there is little reason, other than games and a few spec apps that require such power and few see the NEED to upgrade. My guess is many have decided to use the 'puker purchase price to buy something else with much more positive impact,, a fully loaded machine is = to a decent home improvement or a portion of {hey, 0% intetrest} new vehicle, a trip to Vegas even.. Ask Gates to develope software that can show a productive use of such power and BINGO!, sales will increase. Win ME & Win 2K could run nicely on much slower processors.
