Bear gave you good ideas. Also look in Scripps Ranch, Carmel Mountain Ranch, and Rancho Bernardo. All these areas about 20 minutes to downtown. 10-15 minutes to beach (Del Mar, Solano Beach). Going to stow your boat? There is Harbor Island (near airport).
