Mixed Reviews for Weekend Shopping 20-Dec-04

The final weekend before Christmas generated mixed reviews from those
who measure sales activity. According to Michael P. Niemira, chief
economist at the International Council of Shopping Centers and an
adviser for ShopperTrak, the weekend was a bit of a disappointment
with traffic and sales below expectations. Total sales were down 7% to
$6.7 billion on Saturday, according to Shoppertrak, which estimates
sales results at 30,000 outlets.

in compliance? Doubt it. IMHO if the suppliers unite they will toast WMT. RFID makes sense only for high valued items not shampoo. WMT needs a lesson, to be taken to task by its suppliers. I hope they jack up wholesale prices on them.
