Apparently this morning the airport let 7 planes escape. Still not letting any in yet.
The test flights they did yesterday aren't very reassuring. First of all, who do they get to fly the things? "Hey Joe, take that fucker up, fly it through the ash cloud and see if it falls out of the sky." "OK Boss"
In 1989, a KLM Boeing 747 that flew through a volcanic ash cloud above Alaska temporarily lost all four motors. The motors restarted at a lower altitude and the plane eventually landed safely.
