MM's will try to force short sellers to bring down the stock by false bids. They will bring the bid down to trigger some short buys in the system. The shorts kick in to raise the PPS on an MM that is the axe (the MM that is absorbing the shares without hardly raising the ask. If shorts are big buys then multiple MM's will trade places as they suck up shares). Most of these buys will be on the bid. That means shares buying but not raising the PPS much. This false bid/ask, signals some panic driven sellers to think that the stock is stalled thereby getting some out of the stock before it tanks, causing a decrease in PPS further deflating the stock.
I am going to watch the morning action, let the sellers leave, then start buying the cheapies.
