Florist805,

What a fantastic post! You expressed so well what Q means to some of us. Gay folks our age grew up thinking we were totally alone. I remember a tv documentary way back in the 60s. It was the first time homosexuality had ever been openly discussed on tv. By that time I was a teenager. The director interviewed several gay people, including one guy who seemed almost "normal". Then they got worried that it would look like they were promoting homosexuality, so they actually edited what the "normal" guy said, causing him to come across somewhat uptight and guilty. Subsequently the guy sued them, and as a result the documentary was never seen again. Even so, with the altered dialogue and all, I was so incredibly effected by the documentary. I wasn't alone.

Now look at how things have changed. But still, when I see gay people in the media being who they are, it gets me. And then I think about the potential for QTV. The impact that it could have is beyond anything we could have imagined back when we felt so alone. Wow. The world is changing, and we're a part of it. Who'd have thought?
