Is it true that a GTC Sale order will lock the shares up so they cant be shorted?

I tried to call Scottrade back in December and they told me they don't loan shares to shorty? It was obvious to me that is what happened today! I thought it was real Tacky how the artificial run took place so shorty could cover. What can I tell them if they give me that line again?

Still stuck with the 'one post a day'
Just wanted to say, about the 'not allow shorting'..
I don't get it..

This was considered a great idea mid Februari as well..
In fact, that was the only reason why I asked my broker on Februari 17th to apply this to my holdings..

Glad to see the rest of you come through now ;o)
