Hi Florist,
Very interesting pattern you've been observing at your business. We read that there are actually two different Christmases this year, economically speaking. The wealthy (who as a group have been doing quite well lately) are spending up a storm. But the average person is belt tightening.
As for the Q, RCN doesn't serve my area. I did get to see a tape made when Q was first showing in SF, but there were heavy technical problems – no sound, and the video kept freezing. Still what I saw looked interesting. There was the typical (as in stereo) Judy Garland movie, but also some very interesting looking stuff, including an interview on "Q On The Move" with the actor who plays the professor on "Queer As Folk". (It's interesting that maybe half the male actors on that show are straight. Not him, however ;0) "Q NewsWeek In Review" and the cooking/travel show looked very slick and well produced. They also showed the Broadway production of "Sweeny Todd" with Angela Lansbury. If you've never seen it, do! Also showing was "I Will, I Do, We Did" – Q's original documentary about gay weddings in San Francisco. It's a subject near and dear to us as we've been together 20 years and were married in SF. (until the courts nullified us six months later.) The couples looked very interesting. Too bad I couldn't hear anything they said. Am very much looking forward to subscribing when possible.
I was very encouraged by what I saw, as I am by Skunks' posts. Will have to reserve judgment until I can actually subscribe, but just from what I saw, I got the impression that Frank O's promise to make QTV a gay network from an insider's perspective is more than just a promise.
Enjoy those few days off when they come. And maybe the Q will make it possible for all of us to have a lot of time off in the future. Now there's a Christmas wish!
