Pulp Continues Upwards: Sellers and Buyers Report no Scope for Negotiations.

Pap'Argus 4/15/2010 11:49 GMT

The situation remains extremely complex. The announced price rises are now all reality, for long fibers and short fibers: “there is no pulp, the market has completely dried up”, according to one buyer. The “short view” taken by certain pulp producers in the northern hemisphere was mentioned. All the mills that were closed in 2009 are now sorely missed by the market! At the end of March Catalyst Paper announced the reopening early May of the second production line at Crofton (British Columbia), with a capacity of 165,000 tonnes of NBSK. The first line was restarted in October 2009. As a general rule however the many discussions or rumors of reopening are not as yet being turned into reality.
