LONDON, April 1 (Reuters) - Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE.L) has entered the upstream gas sector by agreeing to buy the North Sea natural gas and infrastructure assets of U.S. energy firm Hess Ltd (HES.N) for $423 million.
Scottish & Southern on Thursday said the gas from the acquired assets would provide around 8 percent of the amount it requires daily to supply its customers and fuel power stations but that more gas could be found through further exploration.
