As President George W. Bush ponders a replacement secretary for the Department of Homeland Security, Delaware County can send up a nomination. Why not John Dolan?
He’s the name-dropping, drunken driving, self-proclaimed expert on national security and terrorism who is currently on the lam after skipping out at a DUI sentencing in Media this week.
He has the connections: When he would get pulled over by the cops, the former Main Line Republican big shot would allegedly drop the names of U.S. Rep. Curt Weldon, R-7, and currently homeland security boss Tom Ridge to deter the cops from pressing charges. (It didn’t work.)
John Dolan is at least as qualified as Bernie Kerik, the ex-New York police commissioner whose nomination imploded this week after it was revealed he had shady financial dealings, connections with the Mob, a spotty record at home and abroad, and carried on extramarital affairs with at least two women in an apartment donated as a relief spot for cops guarding the World Trade Center pit.
Bernie Kerik made it through the White House vetting process led by Alberto Gonzales, soon to be our next attorney general. With this crew in charge, John Dolan would breeze right through.
Secretary Dolan. Has a nice ring to it. If only we could find him.
