'Sicklers' don't bare the immunity threshold, trait carriers do. Trait carriers, despite what you've been led to believe by commercial enterprise perhaps, are not sickly or in need of any medication. They are the result of the natural evolutionary defense against Malaria carrying mosquitoes. Their trait (an evolutionary advancement, and advantage) allows them to live in mosquito infested Malarial regions, and be immune to the paralyzing effects of Malaria. Nicosan wasn't made for trait carriers, that would make it entirely useless, it's designed for positive tested 'sickled' red blood cells.
Without the trait, they're wide open to Malarial infestation, a much worse acquired fate than is anemia caused by the sickle formation of red blood cells.
What you consider 'well known' isn't known, or asserted at all (with the possible exception of some shady Pharma construct).
It's long been known that sicklers have a higher resistance to malaria than non-sicklers, it has also been long known that Niprisan/Nicosan alters that coincidental advantage.
