I really don't care who's idea it is, but it's stupid.
No problem, but let's just make sure not to say "The stupid Democrats did..." regarding this portion of the bill. Not accusing you of saying that, just want to make the point that while this bill was passed by the Dems its major provision is a GOP idea.
As far as your objection is concerned, the difference is you'll be paying society for that "free" medical care. You're not doing that now. On a societal basis (and in isolation), we pay less since the uninsured are forced to contribute at least something.
This bill was a better bill last summer, no doubt about it.
