Oh, sweet!

That means that they are most likely not interested in a quick buck. You know, they could just turn the ~$5M they invested into ~$10M right now, but with them being reaaaaaly fat, they probably are eyeballing something much bigger. I know I would if I was >$1B ...

Nice, thanks for the legwork. I will share whatever I find.

Cheers!

Gileon7, the data you found is most intriguing. May I ask you how did you get it?

What I found is not nearly as impressive as what you found, but here it goes nonetheless:

Company Overview

"Davidson Kempner Capital Management LLC is a privately owned hedge fund sponsor. The firm provides its services to pooled investment vehicles. It invests in the public equity and fixed income markets across the globe. The firm makes its investments in distressed debt and stocks of companies that are undergoing corporate restructuring including mergers; spin-offs; liquidations; and recapitalizations. It also utilizes an event-driven including merger arbitrage, long/short, and convertible arbitrage strategy to select its securities. Davidson Kempner Capital Management was founded in 1990 and is based in New York, New York."

I was also able to find a profile for Thomas Lenox Kempner Jr., who is the Co-Founder and Executive Managing Member, Davidson Kempner Capital Management LLC:

A link to profile of Martin J. Bienenstock, the lawyer representing the Ad Hoc Shareholders Committee: (this guy seems to be a heavy hitter)

That's it, so far. I will be on the lookout for more info. I think it may make sense to pay attention to what these guys are doing in the future. They seem to have their shtuff together...<smile>

BTW, I just looked up Pardus, the hedge that offloaded 30 MIL of Visteon shares on 2009-05-28. Seems they are hurting big time. If they did not sell the 30M, they would be now worth about 6-7 times what they are worth now.

And I remember thinking to myself on 2009-05-28: "Boy, they must know something you don't know, they must be smarter, they are professionals..." Turned out not so much, after all. They were selling and I was buying...
