bladerunner: You seem to being confusing CAT’s share price with the effect the US healthcare law will have on CAT’s profitability. In the short run, changes in CAT’s share price are strongly correlated with changes in the outlook for the global economy; in fact, it would be hard to find a single stock that’s a better proxy for such.

Who ever predicted Cat's "doomsday". Cat, stated the healthcare would cost them $100 mil extra in the first year.

$100 mil is squat to Cat, and they'll just take it out of either the retires or current workers benefits. Oh well, same old same old.
