RPh et al:

…with the new Health bill, I really think the need for PBM's will be questioned and may be one of the first insurance casualties of the bill.

I agree, RPh, and I would extend your warning to other healthcare middlemen including those who (purportedly) provide health insurance.

In the long run, why will “health insurance” companies continue to exist when they are no longer permitted to sell insurance in the traditional sense of the word* and the federal government dictates their product offerings and even the level of their corporate expenses? I think the answer is that they won’t, at least not in their current form.

…don't be too impressed by the prediction.

Despite your modesty, I think you made a great call and it was one that actually saved me money. Regards, Dew

*Insurance in the traditional sense of the word includes risk underwriting, which the so-called health insurance companies are now prohibited from doing.

CVS must think most people are imbeciles. In CVS’ automated telephone reminders for prescription refills, the computerized voice says:

“You should not pick up this prescription refill if your doctor has taken you off this medication.”
