Spending will not ever go away and there are always plenty of people with money to spend but in deflation they soon realize it makes sense to wait. A vicious cycle.
Actually the vicious cycle is cause by over capacity -- too many good chasing too few dollars. Think about all the casual dining restaurants there are. So as capcity shuts down -- so do jobs. Which further decreases demand. etc.
