Thanks pgs. Agree. We desperately need something. I would have a mandate that everyone be forced to have at least some minimalist catastrophic coverage and caps on payments for all hc related expenses at 10 percent of income with govt footing bill using the excise tax and any other taxes needed - maybe a dollar gas tax since pollution harms health. Such a framework would yield social justice while still putting cost into focus, something the Obama/Pelosi/Reid bill does not do and actually purposefully does not want to do - I think they believe not just that healthcare is a right, but that cost should never enter one's mind; one should only be focused on the health issues without any financial considerations. How else to explain forcing low deductible, everything covered policies on all? To fix supply, I would do tort reform (frees up real supply for other things) and 10,000 annual free grants for doctor training which are "repaid" by 2-4 years of public service at free clinics, certain govt facilities, etc.
