Yah, they are bred for their fibre which is highly sought after material...People usually prefer it to cashmere...In the US they are also put in alpaca shows and judged on the quality of their fibre..A show winning alpaca can get into the 6 figures! I read some place they were used for the ugg boots. Not sure if that's true but they don't have to harm them for their wool do they?
