give me a brek. you don't think the offering company would have stated .01/share and stipulated how many shares it would be buying? if there were 10 billion authorized they would not have left the door open for the board to issue more shares and drive their buy price infinitely up. it's possible i suppose that the buying company offered .01 per share up to 14 billion shares and the company raised the a/s and o/s accordingly which dropped the float share price so the buyer could buy them cheaply while the board members and major stockholders hold onto theirs so that they get the .01/share. that way the board and major stockholders get what they want and the buyer gets a discount on his purchase price as well. maybe we see a halt once the buyer has gobbled up enough shares. other option could be hostile takeover and the board had to issue enough more stock to remain in control, hence the speeding up of the sale. just my opinion.
