True story
My Grandfather worked for American Railway Express in Chicago during the 1930s. As part of his route he delivered to many retail stores and became friends with one of the retailers in particular. This retailer was looking for an investor with a couple of thousand to invest to expand his store to another suburb. My Grandfather had the money, but he also had a wife and three children so he told his friend he could not part with the money. Two thousand dollars was allot of money in the 30s when many people were starving so it would seem like the prudent thing to do, the smart thing to do, the safest thing to do to hold on to the cash. His friend did understand and went on to find an investor. The retailer did use the money to expand his business.
Mr. Walgreen and my grandfather remained friends for several years until my grandfather left Chicago after WWII.
This is why I look for companies with great potential and am aware of risks vs. rewards. Anyone know how much Walgreens is worth today?
