Sears Holdings tops analysts estimates
LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Sears Holdings' /quotes/comstock/15*!shld/quotes/nls/shld (SHLD 95.66, +0.62, +0.65%) fourth-quarter net income rose to $430 million, or $3.74 a share, from $190 million, or $1.55 a share in the same period a year earlier, thanks to improved sales at its Kmart stores. Total revenue fell $33 million to $13.2 billion for the period as the 1.7% increase in Kmart comparable-store sales was offset by a decline of 6.1% in comparable-store sales at Sears Domestic outlets. Adjusted earnings per share rose to $3.69, vs. $2.94 a year ago, compared with analyst expectations of $3.48 a share, as compiled by FactSet.
