It is a well-known fact that potential negative future consequences rarely impact behavior of criminals because if they didn't believe they would get away with the crime, they wouldn't do it! I doubt the possibility of being caught and punished is even considered when contemplating criminal activity. Too bad. Jail may not be an effective deterrent to criminal activity over the long term, but the death penalty is, or at least it is to the recipient!

Agent1107....LOL, hopefully you didn't read "money is the root..".,but rather you read "the love of money is the root...."

I don't think it is true that crooks don't care about the
consequences. I think it is more that they think they are too
clever to get caught. Even once suffering the consequences,
(Prison), many devote more time to trying to figure out how
they screwed up and were able to get caught rather than trying
to figure out why they screwed up at all. Some claim that prison
is the university where you hone your criminal skills.
