Yes, you are right, of course. Many resist the temptation, a few don't and pay the price. As to Matt's character, perhaps you are right there, too, meanmike. I don't know. I never met the guy personally, just through the boards here.
Sometimes I think we are all products of our early experiences and therefore in many ways our thoughts and behavior are preordained, predictable and set in place by the time we are 3 yrs old. Then I get to thinking, if there is no freewill, no choice, then nothing one does has any meaning since it is compelled, not chosen. I like to think there is meaning to life, and so I have to believe we have freewill to make the choices that determine our road, and with the freedom to choose comes the burden of responsibility for the consequences of our choices.
