I have not seen any evidence to support that claim. There has been some conjecture that he hacked the bank, and then to forestall prosecution, he owned up to it.
If someone ever posts a link to a verifiable reference source then the story could be checked, but until then I pigeon-hole it under "amusing, probably fiction".
