You have that backward. Why waste time try to trick the backup when they really need to trick the primary system? If they can trick the primary, they won't have to be concerned with the backup. The only time they will get to the backup is if the primary system catches them.

And of the thousands and thousands of flights since they have started scanning people and baggage, how many planes have been blown up (none) and how many incidents have we heard of where terrorists with explosive devices have been caught on board (a few)? Would the Identa kits have prevented those caught on board? No, because they beat the primary sustem.
