on your hypothesis of capital flowing from INTC to AMD common for hedge, you might want to look at the first half hour of todays trading session. I would wager we have seen some of it there.
Is there a real Intel chip shortage, or just a good chip shortage?
Is Intel just trying to force people off the Northwood 130nm chips, because they need to up their margins by selling 90 nm Prescott hotshots that they can churn out for pennies....? Intel says "suck it up....."
Or are the binsplits so bad that Intel only has warehouses full of slow P4 2800's....
Or is it nobody wants those space heaters that only work in a new BTX box with silver plating? Maybe they read this:
