OT RBlatch: That's a nice sized parcel of land anywhere these days. You're having the kind of storm we had in Chicago in 1978. My car was buried on a Chicago side street near Lake Michigan for 3 months before we could dig it out and actually drive anywhere. I remember waiting for busses and "L" trains in sub zero wind chills. I vowed then and there that I would finish school and eventually move out of Chicago. And we did. My family still all live in the Chicago area. Poor bastards. My wife has family in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area and we both have extended family in North Carolina. They're probably all buried in snow right about now. Good luck digging out. I'm looking forward to spring and the 70 degree days that it brings to our area of Central Texas. Stay warm.

OT-It was Everglades Day here in Palm Beach County Florida today. Lots of fun and sun while revelling in the River of Grass. I drove up to Delaware the week before Christmas, but got snowed in in Richmond Virginia for a day along the way (same scenario, two feet of snow). Fortunately, my wife has a friend that made the 'layover' in Virginia more palatable. They are not that equipped to deal with that weather (in Richmond) unfortunately, so resumption of the trip was still quite trecherous. The kids had lots of fun for the entire week though, sledding in the aftermath for a week, building igloos, hangin' with northern cousins, etc.. The seasonal difference in geographic locales, even within relatively close proximity, is a treat to experience. The 365 day-a-year beach weather of the south, combined with the frigid mountainous conditions of the north, all within a day of road travel, is a fascinating, unforgettable adventure. Until we get Alzheimer's of course....

Stay warm Blatch, 3 feet of snow is ridiculous. By the way, it is now 'global climate change,' not 'warming.' :)
