Personally I wired my basement home office for multiple runs of cat5 runs after I got cable modem last year. I am going to pull additonal runs for future computing devices in kitchen and study up into attic and back down as soon as weather in NJ gets cooler. My feeling that gigabit wired ethernet will replaced 100 megabit ethernet by yearend. Gibabyte cards are now about $40 and wireless cards with same level of performance will be much more money.

Well Rich1,

I have completely removed the Netgear equipment (MR314 and MA401) because the router kept disconnecting today causing interruptions in my trading day. The help desk said I could download new firmware.

True to form, their documentation and tech support leaves much to be desired. Therefore, if you are running XP it looks like Linksys is the better option.

I'll be returning my hardware tomorrow after the market closes.
