China’s vast hoard of U.S. treasury bonds is even more fearsome a weapon than Russia in the coming years acquiring new nuclear weapon systems which other nuclear powers do not yet have and are unlikely to develop in the near future.

In my opinion China will not hesitate to go into selling mode if pushed to a certain point.

Unfortunately the voters of the United States in reelecting Bush have pretty much guaranteed that point will be reached.

Bush has already made adjustments consistent with the administrations unilateralist tendencies and quest for hedgemony which includes a control and containment of China. To this end the position of hardliners led by Cheney, who has been the strongest single foreign-policy influence on the president, is now being strengthened.

The dragon will play for time, it might even look like things are warming up a bit. But as long as Bush adheres to his policy of containment there will come a time when we will feel the fiery breath of the monster and dumping bonds is only one weapon in their arsenal they will definitely use.

The following be extremely important.

The leader of the sole superpower in a world order of sovereign nations is by default also the leader of the world, who cannot lead without the support of all the people of the world.

Know one thing the inauguration of Bush will be a sham ceremony. The President of the United States is the leader of the world. The countries of the earth have rejected the detested Bush as their chief. Thus we may smile when Bush puts his hand on the Bible knowing the pomp to be what it really is, meaningless.

The real ceremony, the incident of greatest importance, will quietly go unnoticed; it will be the ascension of China to the throne of Asia.
