#91159 RE: n4807g #91157

I wonder if all the billionaires in the USA can plug all the gaps that exist in local/state/federal budget, including the 10's of trillions in unfunded liabilities?

I wonder if this hasn't become a bigger and bigger problem over time. Why are there these huge gaps? I can't help thinking that it has something to do with some people not paying their fair share. There is only so much that can be taken from the 'little people' before they end up being forced to rely on government programs. Why is it that the gap between the rich and the poor has gotten worse over time, and during the same period, our "unfunded liabilities" have also increased so much? Is it possible that there could be a correlation?

I dug up this old post of mine that includes figures for 2008. I should update and see how things have changed since then.
