Go to Pristine.com and read over some of their materials on chart interpretation. Read Toni Turner's "Beginner's guide to Day Trading Online" (available in paperback from Amazon). Follow up with "Tools and Tactics for the Master Day Trader" by Velez and Capra (see Amazon), then paper-trade until you have mastered the techniques of correctly reading charts and applying the proper tools.
Excellent reference books are Nison's "Japanese Candlestick Charting Techniques" and Bulkowski's "Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns" (both at Amazon).
When you begin trading with real money don't bet the farm, start with small lots and low-priced stocks (not pennies) and do not swing for the fences. Cut your losses quickly while they are still small, and let your winners run, and when you have lost half your trading stake, pick up your remaining marbles and go home. Good luck to you.
