#15762 RE: Mole1 #15700

mole,

I don't know of any spread in Rydex funds. (But every new day brings out a new thing <g>)

I have an account in Etrade, and a smaller one in Rydex proper.

I only trade Velocity (RYVYX) and Venture (RYVNX)
They both behave as mutual funds: you put the order before the cut-off time (15:55 in Rydex, 16:00 in ETrade) and the order is executed at the NAV of the close.

The good thing about this kind of funds is that they have no friction. (no commision, and no slippage)
The bad thing is that you are "trapped" for a whole day, and you cannot really place stops. (I mean: You can, but by the time they are executed --the end of the day-- the cattle has already left the barn)

I opened the Rydex account to check out the 10:30 cut-off time. I was not able to take any advantage of it. I tried to take 1/3 of the position off in case it was 1% or 2% in my favor, but I found out that oftentimes the market would enter a "counter-trend" in the lapse between 10:30 (the cut-off time) and 10:45 (the time the fund is priced) and I would lose all (or most) of the profit I was trying to secure.
