Pure Brilliance. Excellent DSCC Tactic.

I saw this on the CNN blog. I can't wait for this to be demonstrated publicly.

DSCC urges dems to 'define' opponents early
Posted: January 26th, 2010 12:55 PM ET
(CNN) – In the wake of the surprising Massachusetts special election result last week, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is urging the party's 2010 candidates to define their Republican opponents early.

"Given the pressure Republican candidates feel from the extreme right in their party, there is a critical - yet time-sensitive –opportunity for Democratic candidates," a DSCC memo, obtained by CNN, states. "We have a finite window when Republicans candidates will feel susceptible to the extremists in their party. Given the urgent nature of this dynamic, we suggest an aggressive effort to get your opponents on the record."

Specifically, the DSCC wants Democratic candidates to pin down their likely opponents on several hot-button issues, including:

- Do you believe that Barack Obama is a U.S.citizen?
- Do you think the Tenth Amendment bars Congress from issuing regulations like minimum healthcare coverage standards?
- Do you think programs like Social Security and Medicare represent socialism, and should never have been created in the first place?
- Do you think President Obama is a socialist?
- Do you think America should return to a gold standard?

A Tale Of Two SOTUs

January 26, 2010, 1:17 pm

In 1982 Ronald Reagan gave his first State of the Union address. His approval rating was about the same as Barack Obama’s now. His economic track record was considerably worse: instead of presiding over the end of a recession, he had presided over the beginning of one, and the economy was in free fall. Nonetheless, Reagan mounted an unapologetic defense of his economic ideology, combined with a harsh critique of his precedecessors.

We haven’t heard Obama’s SOTU yet. But the big news seems to be the spending freeze. What I hear from bat-squeaks is that it’s not a big deal on economic substance, and that admin officials hope it will clear the way for some modest job-creation efforts. We’ll see about that. Rhetorically, however, Obama is clearly, conspicuously endorsing his opponents’ world-view — which will buy him precisely nothing in return.

I don’t think I’m going to watch the SOTU; all indications are that it will be deeply, deeply depressing.

unlike Clinton who Triangulated to great popularity, looks like the Obama Prompter will Tristrangulate himself, leaving his rabid progressive base in the dirt with nothing and losing his independent supporters with the healthcare debacle and his iggy of the jobless. The one hope of change I had was to get us out of the stinking wars and he can't even do that. He Lies!
