In order to duplicate the ENORMOUS amount of energy needed to create tremors on a planetary scale, the US Atomic Commission, the United States Air Force and Navy would have needed to detonate a HECKUVA LOT more underground nukes than the sum total that was detonated at the Nellis Test Range.

Having said that...it certainly makes fantastic fodder for movie writers and greedy Hollywood producers!

Every multi-day/week field training exercise I ever did in the army always ended with a nuclear dummy explosion -- yes they have simulators for that which were quite nice to see. Us troops would then attack through the contaminated explosion zone to get into the "clean" enemy area in their rear.

Unbelievable but true.
