That is all good as long as they do not buy the remaining 49% of Extreme, then you get 100% liability along with it, including a business that is failing and pulling all your money from the profit generating portion of the business. No matter how well the supposed lighting business does it will not support the money pit of a non revenue generating business over the long term. The fact is all refining industries for all types of fuels are being hit hard. They have been hit for nearly a year now and currently the forecast is to continue possibly until the 2nd quarter of 2011 before a large demand signal builds.

The Fed is not going to throw money at a program that currently has no demand, it is wasted money over that period of time. There is no competition or demand for the petroleum derived fuels, so this translates over to the bio fuels, it is money being squandered on a useless program. If demand comes back in for fuels then yes the program may be brought back on line to allow competition once again. But the end result much like ethanol for example is the industry itself has to change and become more efficient to drive the price down or simply the subsidies will go away permanently.

The largest bio diesel manufacturer in the world has no demand currently for their varying products of fuels. That is Archers Daniels and Midland, a company that has pioneered plant derived fuels for decades. I can tell you they have seen a large decrease in fuel sales over the past year and a half, and this segment is currently a big loss. At the peak of July 2008, they could not keep up with demand for their products. Now they cannot give it away to allow for turnover.
