Once the bubble began in earnest, I can see looking for some criteria for a cap to the upside from the long term charts, because at that point that was all you had. But to take the chart he is using and draw in an expanding triangle based only on two tops past the starting point (the last one was over 2 years ago) and try to forcast something from that is highly arbitrary, in my opinion. To base one's investment strategy on it is foolhardy and more akin to reading goat entrails, again though, just my opinion.
