Makes sense! I'm for whatever works for you! Sometimes I draw t/l's just on closing prices. Different strokes . . .
However, I do tend mostly to look for formations, and IMO, when considering chart formations (not just trend identification) one has to observe the rules that apply to drawing said t/l's or one's results can get screwed up.
