Well IMO, shares do not have to be registered. Think about people that own shares and have not kept up on the daily happenings as we do. People that own shares and are out working on a pipeline somewhere for the last 6 months! People that do not follow stock message boards and are simply unaware that they can register shares! I could go on …

Registering your shares is probably more of a short term tool. A list of registered shares that the UST would have in hand to plead his case! The more the merrier but not a necessity.

In the end, a share is a share, is a share! No one will be left out in the cold if his/her shares are not registered!
