No, the sad, dark day was Sept. 11, 2001 or the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Kerry voted for the war, also and as one of the most liberal members of Congress would certainly only spend a ton more than W has (and I'm not happy about W's spending).
If the dems would have nominated almost anyone that wasn't nearly as liberal, they would have won. Just like 2000, it looks like the Republicans out-maneuvered them. They have noone to blame by themselves.
