Yeah, they were kinda stick fly planes back then. I think they've become much more sophisticated since then. Wouldn't want to be at the wrong end of one.
When I was stationed at FT Sill in Oklahoma I would get to watch the A-10s flying and fireing the gun and missles while I was out fishing. I miss that a little. Artillery going overhead when your hunting is a unique experience also. You were allowed to hunt when they were firing artillery, but there is a certain distance when you get too close to the guns and another point too close to the impact zone. The cliff Geronimo jump off of with his horse was either on post or in the public land right off the post....believe me it was a doozy of a drop for him to have run away from.
