I think another reason for releasing data early may have been to sign a partnership early.

This rationale does not hold water, IMO. Under a non-disclosure agreement, ACHN could have shown the ACH-1625 data to prospective partners without issuing a PR.

Any prospective partner would be seeing all the data under a CDA. So PR probably has no bearing on a deal.
