Re: My point was that she understood you, but you seemed not to consider her point, and just pushed yours.

I contest that she did not understand me.

Look - I like both you and Steph, but you need to take a step back at what is meant to be a constructive comment: when I say you're not understanding me, it means the point your arguing over with me is not the same as the one that I was trying to convey.

I've never said that ignoring Palin will make her instantly go away. Media fame doesn't quite work that way - however, fanning the embers of controversy by firing back insults and criticisms only manages to prolong a figurehead like Palin in the public eye.

This is a well understood phenomenon, and not one that I need to pretend to be an expert at. You just have to remember that it's not the person that the media is interested in - it's the controversy. They are interested in Sarah Palin precisely because she's so polarizing. She gives people plenty of reason to criticize her, and that's why the media covers it. They want to stoke more controversy - just like they're doing over Tiger Wood's love affairs, which in my opinion is a fairly boring subject, but I suppose enough people are morbidly curious enough to want to hear all the sordid details.

Of course, that's "scandal", which is slightly different than "controversy", in that it strikes like lightning, but quickly dies down when the public loses interest. Tiger will be old news next week - unless he continues to do stupid things, in which case they'll continue coverage. But for "controversy", that lasts as long as people are willing to feed it. I'll reiterate that Palin has not offered anything new in a while, and if people stopped talking about her, the media will stop covering her.
