OT: There is a bird very much like the Pileated Woodpecker that you may not be aware of: the Ivory-Billed Woodpecker. It is thought to be extinct, but it is worth $50,000 if you can prove otherwise.

We have Pileated Woodpeckers here in the Big Thicket, which I see occasionally, but I believe I have seen the Ivory-Billed as well. OK, so call me crazy...LOL. But I started doing a little research, and found some articles on the one that is extinct.

Rather an interesting story. And ever since Rita hit us, I have more dead trees out back than ever, and so I get to see those woodpeckers more frequently now than before. I never get a good picture, or even a good view with the binoculars, but I keep hoping:)
