Big writers of D&O are AIG and Chubb. There may be some others, but I believe these two have the largest share of D&O covers.
In the wake of Enron/Worldcom/KMart etc. they are demanding enormous premium increases (although this has happened before - this market is cyclical). The issue is whether they will deny coverage in the future if statements autographed by CEOs/CFOs prove inaccurate.
FD - I don't own either of these companies - I am long a couple of other insurers, but I don't believe either is a player in the D&O market. gm
