(NASDAQ: SSFT - News), the global leader of speech and imaging solutions, today announced the immediate availability of ScanSoft® PaperPort® Asian Edition, the world's best-selling PC document and paper management application for Microsoft Windows. ScanSoft also announced that Wintone, a leading provider of scanning solutions in China, will distribute and support the product throughout the rapidly growing Chinese market.
Available for the first time in simplified and traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean, PaperPort transforms the way people organize, find and share all of their paper documents, digital documents and photos. Seamlessly integrated with flatbed, multifunction and network scanning devices, PaperPort is unique in combining the power of creating PDF files, the convenience of network scanning, and the efficiency of document management into a single, easy-to-use office productivity application.

Key Features of PaperPort Pro Office Asian Edition
The Power of PDF - PaperPort works with your current email system to enhance the digital review process, by converting Word and other editable documents into more secure PDF files, including PDF 1.5, which is especially ideal for reviewing contracts and other important documents. For capturing review comments, PaperPort supports creating and viewing annotations within PDF files, including sticky notes, highlights and stamps.
All-in-One Document Search and Retrieval - The SimpleSearch® feature allows users to quickly find any document with a single keyword or meta-data search request, leveraging the most powerful search engine available in PaperPort. Documents stored on local PC's and on the network are automatically indexed by PaperPort, which uses highly accurate OCR to make even scanned paper and PDF files searchable.
Enhanced OCR and Language Flexibility - Eliminate re-typing by using the OCR in PaperPort Pro Office to extract text from scanned images and PDF files. You can also copy a portion of a scanned document to the clipboard, then paste text into a word processor or an email message. To ensure accurate conversion, OCR is available in the default Asian language or in English and provides full layout retention and analysis including columns, tables and color/grayscale images.
Drag & Drop Document Workflow - The SendTo bar makes it fast and easy to send documents -- or sets of documents -- to your e-mail client, fax boards and printers. Better still, the SendTo bar is also a document on-ramp for sending documents over FTP, moving files within the network, and for connecting PaperPort to existing workflow applications and processes, as well as links to specific Asian language applications, including Ichitaro, FoxLink, Hangul Word, PhotoImpact and more.
Copy Protection - PaperPort Asian Edition implements ScanSoft's web-based software activation and copy protection system, which has previously been integrated with PDF Converter, PDF Create! and versions of PaperPort for North America and Europe. Software activation has become a standard feature of office productivity applications, including Microsoft Office 2003, giving consumers the assurance that their licensed software is genuine.
