frog,

I think it's good that you form some kind of rationale:

"All we can do is calculate, at a personal level, some value of confidence/risk, and make investment decisions based on those risks."

But why do you spend so much time battering the board with that rationale? Do you intend for your comments to effect our investment decisions.

If so, never mind! You're wasting your time!

Froggy ~

I understand and agree.

As for the lottery, playing it goes against my core values and beliefs. Never played, never will. Some say investments ia a form of gambling, but as you say, it's calculated risks. One could argue past performance dictates future results. However, that is not inherently true. Take for instance MCI, Global Crossing, Enron, Zenith, Eastern Airlines and a host of many other large corporations who fell, ones that no one would have ever suspected. Their investors no doubt felt extremely comfortable with their holdings and look what happened. More than one large corporation has been snuck up on and passed by a much smaller one because they were never taken seriously.

And then there's Coca-Cola. Back in the depression era people thought their friend and relatives were crazy to invest in Coca-Cola. What was it, somewhere around ten cents a share? (I'm sure Spookie knows exactly. lol) At any rate, being a native Atlantan and seeing what some folks investment in Coca-Cola did for them and their future generations was not too shabby. It's all over town, all one has to do is ride around and look. And all because someone got creative at the soda fountain.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your analysis and viewpoints - always have. Just be open to the fact that people think and create quite differently and the rest of us sometimes can only see the picture when the puzzle has been completed.

I for one, am not so arrogant to think (not inferring you are, mind you) that just because I may not see it, does not mean it is not so. I can't see wind either, but I can feel its presence or lack thereof, and I can also see the results of, or lack of, its activity. Yet, it exists, just like God does.

Nice to hear from you too Froggy,

Warmest regards,
