That article is not complete nonsense, but it is mostly nonsense.

Most of the people fighting the US are not foreigners or even Islamic extremists. They are mostly Baathists, with a smattering of others who we have completely pissed off by our behavior there. The foreigners wouldn't stand a chance if there weren't a substantial number of locals giving them a good deal of support, they would be dead and gone by now.

Furthermore, we ain't seen nuttin yet, in terms of an "insurrection." The Kurds have barely begun to fight--yesterday they made more noises about Kirkuk. If the Shia do get in power after the election, my guess is they will overreach and antagonize the Kurds as well as the Baathists. And if they don't get in power, they will scream bloody murder and Sadr's insurrection will seem like a picnic in the park.

Does Kerry really want to be President? I wouldn't, with the problems to come, both internationally and domestically. Of course, if Bush gets elected, whatever problems there are will be because of Bush bashers; if Kerry gets elected, all problems will be his. Count on it.
